Depends on State law. Under the Federal guidelines that the Feds issued when they first promoted "right on red", it would be legal - but different jurisdictions have applied the guidelines unevenly. for example, in NY City, you can not right on red unless there's a sign that says you can, but outside NYC in other parts of NY, you can. 1. How much power does a regular street light consume?
I've been around for the entire history of street lights, from gas lamps to the new LEDs. This sounds frighteningly long, and it is...As a child I remember the lamplighter coming round at dusk, on his bike, with a long pole. He had to light each lamp. One was outside our house in a London suburb, so it is a clear memory. And the smog in the winter of course - the lamps glimmering weakly through the smog is an unforgettable memory. Then the streetlamps change to various electric solutions, the orange-hue sodium lights probably had the longest period of use. It was almost impossible to tell the colour of a car at night under these lights. Then came halogen, now things are changing to LED. So this question is very era and location-dependent.Right now our exterior PIR lights are changing from the halogen 150 - 500 watt lamps to 20 and 50 watt LEDs. No doubt the same savings will eventually come across the board on street lighting. The local authority probably has to calculate the power saving value versus the cost of replacing all the lights; I expect what they will do in most places is simply replace dead bulbs with new LED models, as long as the connector, casing and power supply switching arrangements are compatible.Another factor that any specifier has to take into account is reality versus the marketing hype and propaganda. I've owned many new types of light bulbs with low power draw and LONG LIFE in big letters on the box, which were all an incredible price compared to a standard bulb. Nine out of ten of them lasted no longer than a normal lamp at a fraction of the price. (Sooner or later you realise you've been hit by the usual EU sting...)Sports field floodlights are an interesting area, currently a typical 12 lamp bank of 2kW bulbs draws 24 kilowatts, a monster power draw with high costs in both power and bulb replacement (around 80 a bulb). It doesn't look as if there is any kind of like-for-like replacement with LED models that can output the same value in lumens currently. How much power does a regular street light consume?
2. Can you believe that I have the ability without even trying to manipulate street light sensors?
yes! sweet! nice work buddy
3. A street light is at the top of a 16 ft tall pole. A woman 6 ft tall walks away from the pole with a speed of?
hmmmm... 4 ft/sec? i just wanna see the answers.
4. everytime i drive a street light goes out is in some kind of energy i have? just a randome light?
It probably just means that you are more observant of your surroundings than most of us. Lights only burns for so long, before going out; sometimes, birds will short out the transformers, causing a LOT of lights to go out, too
5. When you were a kid did you often break the street light rule?
We did not have that rule. We never use to stray far. It was come in when you heard your mum shout. Lights or no lights
6. how much does it cost to power one street light for an entire year?
not enough info - would need info on type of light
7. how to calculate power rating and energy consumptions for street light? ?
first u hav to know which type of power level malaysia used 3 phase of 415V and single phase of 240V frequency used is 50 Hz u can calculate power consumed by using S=V/Z formula. Z, impedance value might be stated at the light pole. then P, power can be calculated as S cos 0.8 because malaysia only allow 0.8 lagging power factor. then u should times power with how many hours the light work to get that kWH units.
