Why do not you try mydeco.com they have a 3D room planner that you can use to design your room. You can experiment with different colours, add wallpaper and art, see what colours work well together, add furniture to the room, change the colour of the floor, add and change light fixtures, and view the room from different angles too. I used it when I was decorating my room and it really helped and it's easy to use too. Hope that helps.

I am no expert, but if I had to guess I would say the top energy users are: Water heater (get on-demand water heater) light fixtures (get the compact fluorescent bulbs) Heating (if it is electric) Appliances (buy energy star approved)

Turn off the switch or breaker and get a flashlight, look inside of the socket and you will see a pin in the center, take something (preferably plastic) and pry it toward you (out). By the way do not use those compact fluorescent on dimmers unless they are dimmable. hope this fixes it!.

3. What are some trouble-shooting hints when reconnecting 2 light fixtures controlled by 3 diferent switches?

Check to make sure all three switches are identical and that the wires are connected to the same posts (screw) on each of the three switches. If all appears to be the same at each position, check the bulbs to make sure they are good. If still no clue, then one or more switches may be bad. Check the functions of each switch with an ohm meter and annotate the results. If one switch needs to be replaced, replace them all, this is so all are wired internally the same, it makes it easier to install them. It has been my experience that not all switches from a manufacturer are the same internally. I have had variations in wiring between lots even though they were made by the same manufacturer and appeared to be identical externally

4. How can I figure out how much electricity for three or four fluorescent light fixtures is going to cost?

Check the wattage on the bulbs, multiply that by the hours, then divide by 1000 to get the kWH, or kilowatt-hours. This is the unit of measure that the power company uses. Check your latest electric bill to find out the cost per kWH, then multiply that by the total kWH to find the cost. Good luck.

It is not a habit, it is just something that he has discovers and likes to watch. My son (5 months) still stares at ceiling fans sometimes. . .but at that age it was light fixtures. When they lay on their backs, most of the stuff they see is above them and they get used to that. There is nothing wrong.

Use a lower watt light bulb. If you are using 60 now, use 40 or 25 watt bulb

7. Is it possible to install recessed lighting in a room that has no existing light fixtures and no attic access?

An electrician could do it. They will have to cut in boxes in the ceiling and then fish wiring between the light fixture rough in boxes through holes drilled through the ceiling joists inside the structure. Electricians have the tools and skill to do this. They may have to cut away a small area of drywall to access the wall top plate to drill through it to bring the cable down to the switch box and power feed locations (and then patch the area). This is typically not something that a homeowner will be able to do themselves and it wo not be cheap. There is always the chance that there will be headroom problems or obstacles like ductwork or structural members. When I had customers who wanted this sort of work done (back when I still did residential wiring) it was rarely possible to give them an exact estimate of the cost of the job because it was too hard to predict what you would run into until you cut into the ceiling.
