Please..I Want to Become a Ballet Dancer.?

I dance ballet and it is very competitive. You should find a studio to take classes at. There is only so much that you can teach yourself and if you really want to do this, then you need to have retired ballet dancers or other dancers that know what they are talking about. You might even be able to find a retired ballet dancer that would be willing to teach you privately. It is never too late to start ballet. I have a friend who started at 14 (she is now 16) and she is amazing. The only thing is that if you want to do this, you have to be really committed. Also, do not let anyone i mean anyone put you down. People can give you constructive criticism but if they ever tell you that you are not good enough, they are wrong. if you put your mind to it i am 100% sure you can do it! Break a leg! and have fun!.

1. What do pointe shoes do to your feet?

You need to sit down and discuss this with your mum. She is right, pointe will ruin the appearance of your feet if you work for a prolonged period of time. That's why dancers hate their feet! However, if you are serious on pursuing a dance career, you need to seriously talk this through with your mum. If you want to progress to a ballet school and join a company, pointe is essential. It sounds like she's just concerned you will start pointe, and then decide that actually you do not want to pursue a career in ballet at all. As to is it worth it, that is purely a question that only you can answer.

2. ballet at 15- calling all the dance informed.?

No age is too old to start any type of dancing. However, if your goal was to be a prima ballerina, it might be a little late. But I guess you just want to be able to learn some moves, do stretches and enjoy dancing more for yourself. Ballet will strengthen your muscles. No, you wo not get bulky muscles but longer and smoother muscles. You will be exercising also. In class, most ballet teachers and/or schools have a dress requirement - most likely pink tights and black leotard. You will start the class by warming up at the barre, stretching, and then moving to some moves on the floor without the barre. Then it will be across the floor from one side to the other. Listen to the teacher. If you have any questions or did not get the step, ask to have it explained again. Smile. Do not talk while the teacher is talking. Oh, and DON'T chew gum! Teachers really hate that!

3. What do you have to wear to your dance school?

For Hip-Hop we wear grey soffe shorts and a white T-shirt and oxford dance shoes For ballet we wear leotards and tights and ballet shoes:)

4. How to prepare for ballet lessons?

Do not do any actual ballet before class starts. You will only build poor habits. Copying arms and foot positions does not mean that you are doing things correctly. You have to engage the right muscles to get you there. That means you need a teacher's eyes and hands on your for corrections. While you really do not need to do anything, what you can do if you wish is some floor pilates. Pilates will get your body ready to accept ballet training. It builds elongated muscles, a strong core and increases flexibility. Professional ballet dancers all cross train in pilates. Yoga is also helpful too.

5. Advice for a new 26 year old male Ballet dancer?

Go for it! Being a male dancer means you can attract lots of female dancers 1. The men in my ballet class wear navy dark blue leggins, black socks, White leotard on top, and White ballet shoes. I sugesst ringing up and asking your dance instructor. As you are a man there is alot more freedom in mens dance wear , as it's never as strict as womans. Some people in mine jut wear ballet leotard and then travky bottoms on top with a hoodie. 2. You will either be taught everything together meaning , everyone will be bigeners to. Or most likely you will just pick up on stuff. Yout dance teacher should instuct you on improvements and as you start out you will get alot more that everyone else. ( remember when I joined ballet, this happened. Turned out I got the highest mark in my exam :) ) 3. Yes the majority will be females. But it depends on what area you live in for example. I live in the UK and go to 3 ballet classes a week, about 20 are female and 3 are male. Though I often find (if tour doing grades) mens exercises are easier and the always end up doing better. I hear in the USA mens ballet is more popular. It also depends on the class, if you do not enjoy this one try and find a all mens class. I stated ballet when I was 12, but started other classes when I was 9 (modern jazz, contempery, tap, street jazz, hip hop). I think the Avarage age is younger, many start taking up a sport/dance class early to put on their CV or for their DOE (Duke of Edimburgh )
