Why isn't my air conditioner blowing out colder air?

If it is a new unit, then it should be under warranty. I would take it back and ask to exchange it. Just because it is brand new does not mean it works as it should. The only other option is to have HVAC person test the system-problem is most window units are a "sealed system" meaning they do not have test ports or recharging ports. One can be added but they probably tell you they can not warranty the repair. Good luck

Why does my air conditioner turn on when I am running the heat?

Simple. A heat pump does one of two things by the same device. 1 Cooling and 2 heating. This is achieved by a reversing valve. Depending on weather you call for heat or cool switches the reversing valve to either A make it cold or B make it hot. Thats it in a nut shell. A heat pump will be used year round as this is the primary source of heat and cooling. If the heat pump were to malfunction, you thermostat should have a setting for emergency heat. The emergency heat has nothing to do with the heat pump. You have a electrical heat bank inside the air handler (furnace) that should the main system fail, hence emergency heat. The electric heating elements will proved heat should the heat pump malfunction. This has to be done at the thermostat by the user it is not an automatic feature in the event of failure. Is it normal to replace the receiver, dryer, & expansion value when getting an air conditioner compres?

The receiver/drier and expansion valve are always replaced when a new compressor is installed. All the automotive AC shops in my area do that since they warranty their work. Those parts are cheap compared to the compressor and do not take long to switch out. You should call around to other shops for quotes to have all three replaced then compare those to the monkey's. I think he's either inept or willing to cheat you once your car is in his shop. You can not get it back until he's paid so beware!

Will putting an awning over my air conditioner,which is in southfacing wall of house,make it more efficient?

putting objects within 7 feet of the top of the unit is not advised by any AC manufacturer. usually the installation manual or the owners manual will have a graphic showing clearances for their units. the problem with putting an obstruction over the unit is "mushrooming" the condenser pushes heat through the top of the unit. if you put something too close to the top, it causes the heat to be spread out around the unit again, circling back through the coil. making it less efficient. you need to have sufficient clearance above the unit to allow heat to dissipate

best conditioner&shampoo for THIN dry/damaged hair?

You could use any head and shoulders. it is meant to correct a dry scalp which could be the cause. Otherwise i suggest dove conditioner for severely dry and damaged hair

Have a 2004 Malibu with an A/C problem. Several weeks ago air conditioner totally quit blowing cold air.?

Are you sure it is not just low on freon? That could make it weak and intermittent. Repairmen are not always honest. One of them once told me my compressor was bad and I needed a $1000 repair job. I did not believe it because I could feel cold air at the vents; it just was not blowing. I picked up a blower for $60 or $70 at the nearest Checker store and replaced it myself
